Isabelle Algrain

Isabelle Algrain holds a PhD in History, Arts and Archeology from the Université libre de Bruxelles (2011) and holds a master's degree in gender studies (2019). After a one-year post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Oxford (grant from the Wiener-Anspach Foundation, 2011-2012), she became research fellow from the FRS-FNRS at the Centre de Recherches en Archéologie et Patrimoine, ULB (2012-2015). She is the officer in charge of the international relations of the Royal Academy of Sciences, Letters and Fine Arts of Belgium.

Scientific collaborator at the Centre de Recherches en Archéologie et Patrimoine, ULB, she is specialized in the morphological study of Greek pottery from the Archaic and Classical periods and works on the publication of the material found in the southern complex of the sanctuary of Apollo at Despotiko (Paros). Since her doctoral thesis, she has also been working on gender relations in ancient Greece. Among her publications: L’alabastre attique. Origine, forme et usages, Bruxelles : CReA-Patrimoine, 2014 [Études d’archéologie 7], which received in 2016 the Joseph Gantrelle Prize of the Classe des Lettres et des Sciences morales et politiques of the Royal Academy of Sciences, Letters and Fine Arts of Belgium.
