Pierre Jodogne

Delegate, Emeritus Professor of the University of Liège.

Pierre Jodogne was born in Tellin (Belgium), the 27 June 1936. His father, Omer Jodogne, linguist and medievalist philologist, was professor at the Catholic University of Louvain. Pierre Jodogne is "Dottore in lettere" of the University of Bologna (1959) and Doctor of Philosophy and Letters of the Catholic University of Louvain (1968). He has taught Italian language and literature at the University of Brussels (Université libre de Bruxelles, 1974-1989), then at the University of Liège (1988-2001). He was elected correspondent of the Belgian Royal Academy in 1991 and became member in 1997. His work of literary history and philology are about French and Italian writers of the Renaissance: Jean Lemaire de Belges, Antonio Alamanni, Leon Battista Alberti et Francesco Guicciardini. His first monograph is Jean Lemaire de Belges, écrivain franco-bourguignon (Bruxelles, Palais des Académies, 1972, XIV-535 p). The « Istituto storico italiano per l’età moderna e contemporanea » of Roma asked him to write the critical edition of the Francesco Guicciardini's correspondence (1483-1540). The first ten volumes of Lettere were published by this Institute from 1986 to 2008.
